What you do

Fight through randomly arranged chambers with spells and weapons, choose gifts from the gods, and return home after each run to talk and upgrade.

Who it suits

Players who like short, intense sessions. Easier settings are built in for those who want the story.

01The first hours

Your first run ends quickly, and that is the design. Back at the Crossroads, everyone has something to say, and you learn that every failure moves the story on.

02Settling in

Over many runs the combinations of gifts and weapons become the joy of the game. Each attempt feels different, and the characters keep the story moving.

03The long road

The game is large, but in bite-sized pieces. A single run is a perfect evening session with a clean ending.

Why it works

  • Perfect short sessions
  • Superb combat and music
  • Story moves on even when you lose

Watch out for

  • Repetition is part of the design
  • Not on PlayStation or Xbox at the time of writing
